International Council on Systems Engineering Seeking University of Michigan Students

The International Council on Systems Engineering, INCOSE, is inviting students from the University of Michigan to present at six southeast Michigan chapter meetings over the course of the year.

INCOSE is a professional network of 10,000 practitioners of systems engineering across the country, from a wide range of industries, including government, automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing.  The southeast Michigan chapter garners monthly attendance of roughly 150 members, and has over 600 professionals on their mailing list.

The opportunity to showcase your work for the INCOSE community is a valuable experience.  You will have exposure to INCOSE leaders, as well as systems engineers working in the area, at leading companies such as General Motors, Ford, and Tardec.

All ISD students are encouraged to apply for this opportunity.  While the focus of INCOSE is on systems engineering, much of the practitioner audience is from automotive and manufacturing sectors.  Presentations must be 40-45 minutes long, and will be followed by a Q&A session.  The INCOSE chapter meets at the Southfield Civic Center, but students may present remotely via WEBEX.  Topics may be proposed by an individual or as a group.   Subject matter based on Capstones and practicums are welcome, although the sponsoring company must agree to share information.  Presentation proposals will be reviewed with both ISD faculty and program directors as well as by the INCOSE Program Committee.  The opportunity to present at INCOSE will be available through December 2018.

To be considered for a presentation, please e-mail Gail Carr (gail.carr@umich.edu) and include the following information:

  1. A rough abstract and title for your presentation title
  2. The time required for your presentation
  3. The presenters (and their ISD degree program)
  4. Your preferences for the days on which youd like to present
