Requirements for online registration include:
- Admission to University of Michigan College of Engineering as a Master of Engineering or Non-Candidate for Degree (NCFD) student. If you have not already applied and been accepted, please apply online as a NCFD student first at https://www.applyweb.com/apply/umengin/. The application requires that you create an online application user account, fill out the application, submit an application fee, and provide your resume and official transcripts.
- A UM ID number and uniqname. You will receive a UMID 1–2 business days after successfully submitting your application. You will receive your UM uniqname after you have been admitted. If you have already been admitted and cannot remember your UMID, contact email@example.com.
- A high-speed connection to the internet outside of a corporate firewall is required for access to online course lectures.
Official Confirmation of Registration
Although you will receive an automated reply when you submit your registration request, you will not be officially registered until you receive both a confirmation that your registration has been accepted and information about how to access the course.

If you plan to obtain a degree, it is critical to follow a Plan of Study that has been approved by your advisor. This will ensure that you will meet the necessary core and concentration requirements.
