Art Hyde, Adjunct Professor for Integrative Systems + Design and a past Chief Engineer for Ford Global Product Development System, was a keynote speaker at the 2018 International Council on System Engineering (INCOSE) Great Lakes 12th Regional Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana. He spoke about Lean Systems Design and its creation.
Lean Systems Design is a new framework developed by the Integrative System + Design (ISD) team for efficiently developing new products and services that can bring together Lean Product Creation, Design Science, Systems Engineering, and Agile Development. It was developed over this past year based on work by ISD for the Design Science and Systems Engineering programs as well as on the research projects from ISD doctoral candidates mentored by Dr. Diann Brei (current department chair for ISD) and Dr. Panos Papalambros (past chair for ISD.)
Hyde hopes to bring together the work within the University on facets of New Product Creation using this framework, including The School of Design, Ross School of Business as well as the College of Engineering. Hyde is a member of INCOSE and the Global Work Group lead for Lean Systems Engineering and created the (graduate class) Lean Program Engineering in Automotive Engineering.
