ISD recognized Communications Manager Eric Anderson and Multimedia and Web Specialist Nick Looney with the 2023 Staff Excellence Award.
The award is given to regular ISD staff members with at least one year of service at ISD and who have not been a recipient of this award in the past four years. Award winners must demonstrate excellence in the following categories: Customer Service, DEI, Teamwork, Performance and Quality, Initiative and Innovation, Leadership, and Professionalism.
In his role, Anderson leads ISD’s day-to-day communications, including emails, publications, web copy, scripts, letters, and newsletters, as well as many other responsibilities. He previously held communications positions with Michigan Medicine and the U-M Office of Enrollment Management.
According to his nomination: “Eric Anderson leads by example and is a role model employee. He is super smart, hard working, dedicated, caring, communicates and listens well, motivates others, respectful, honest, trustworthy, and possesses the highest integrity. He has made a positive impact over the past year at ISD. He is instrumental in the success of ISD communications and has extended his talents to help several other areas of the division, including new student recruitment. We are fortunate to have such a hardworking, dedicated, focused and talented employee as part of our team.”
In his role, Looney oversees, maintains, and updates ISD’s web site as well as leads graphic design, video, and photography efforts, among many other responsibilities. He previously served as Multimedia Designer for the Office of Marketing and Digital Strategy at the University of Michigan Flint.
According to his nomination: “Nick Looney is well respected, well liked and counted on by his team and other colleagues to share his vast technical expertise and deliver outstanding work and solutions. He is always passionate, enthusiastic, caring, dedicated, friendly, easy going, as well as motivates others to do their very best and be their very best. I am a better person and manager because of Nick. He leads by example and is one of our best staff members. He is well deserving of this award. We are fortunate and blessed to have him at ISD!”
