Dr. Patrick Hammett Receives the 2021 Jon R. and Beverly S. Holt Award for Excellence in Teaching

ISD Lecturer IV Dr. Patrick Hammett is the 2021 recipient of the Jon R. and Beverly S. Holt Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Dr. Patrick Hammett, Lecturer IV in Integrative Systems + Design (ISD) since 2013, has been named as the recipient of the 2021 Jon R. and Beverly S. Holt Award for Excellence in Teaching. The award is presented annually to one faculty member by the College of Engineering to recognize outstanding teaching.

Dr. Hammett is being recognized for his technical and online education expertise, teaching excellence and leadership. Dr. Hammett has taught more than 15 different stand-alone courses reaching over 15,000 students and mentoring over 50 Master’s level ISD capstone projects. His leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic was essential to the success of the College’s transition to online learning. As the director of faculty innovation at Nexus, he developed and hosted in-person and virtual office hours for other faculty members providing them with tips and best practices for remote course delivery, and helped to develop Nexus’ Faculty Resources website that has helped faculty and academic units’ transition to online and hybrid instruction.
