ISD Student Receives MLK Spirit Award

ISD is proud to announce that Global Automotive and Manufacturing Engineering student Aastik Chawla has been named a recipient of a 2017 North Campus Deans’ MLK Spirit Award! This award is jointly presented by the departments which comprise the University of Michigan’s North Campus: The College of Engineering, Stamps School of Art & Design, Taubman College of Architecture & Urban Planning, and the School of Music, Theatre & Dance. The honor recognizes students, groups, and faculty in the North Campus community who embody and uphold the spirit of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. through leadership, diversity, equality, and commitment to social justice.

Aastik is one of seven students to receive this honor. This year’s ceremony also featured special recognition for Provost Martha Pollack and Professor June Thomas.

Students receiving this award were honored at the 2017 North Campus Deans’ MLK Spirit Awards Ceremony & Reception. The special event took place on Monday, January 16 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM in the Chesebrough Auditorium.
