Michael LaFramboise Named College of Engineering Distinguished Leadership Award Winner

The award is given to undergraduate and graduate students for outstanding leadership and service.

Michael LaFramboise was named a 2020-21 recipient of the College of Engineering’s Distinguished Leadership Award. The Distinguished Leadership Award is given to undergraduate and graduate students of the College of Engineering who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the College, University, and community.

Michael, whose research focus/interest is UV laser systems, is a Master’s student in the Systems Engineering + Design program and is graduating this May. During his time at the University of Michigan, he was the 2020 president of 1st Gen Engin, a program for first generation students in the College of Engineering. He has a passion for entrepreneurship and has worked with several technology startups in a product management capacity. Currently, Michael is working for Coherent Inc. in Santa Clara, CA.
