Regents Approve ISD as a Division in the College of Engineering

With this approval, the former Michigan Interdisciplinary and Professional Engineering Program (InterPro) has become an academic unit in the College of Engineering with a focused academic mission and ISD faculty and staff appointments. The new Division also incorporates the former Center for Professional Development which enables it to offer lifelong learning options.

The mission of the new Division is to facilitate the synergy of interdisciplinary programs, to develop programs that are responsive to the needs of industry and professional engineering, and to prepare students for leadership roles in engineering.

ISD offers interdisciplinary technical master’s degrees, doctoral degrees, certificates, and individual courses that focus on process excellence, latest technologies, and related topics. They are available online, on campus, and on location.

A recognized leader in distance education, ISD offers four interdisciplinary degrees that can be completed entirely online along with Six Sigma certifications and industry-focused courses that are ideally suited to professionals who would like to pursue their studies while working full-time.

As part of its focus on professional education, ISD presents customized on location programs that respond to the needs of industry, healthcare, government, the military and non-profit organizations with specialized education programs.
