Self Nominate for Leaders and Honors awards Before January 6th

The Jan. 4, 2023, deadline to self-nominate for Leaders and Honors awards is fast approaching. Here at ISD, we are fortunate to have a student population of exceptionally high caliber; as such, we encourage ISD students to consider submitting a self-nomination for one or more of the following awards:

Harry B. Benford Award for Entrepreneurial Leadership 

($5,000 stipend)

Awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student who has exhibited entrepreneurial flair and leadership ability, and who has capitalized effectively on the technological and engineering resources available in the College of Engineering. Nominees may be budding inventors or small business owners, leaders of team projects, community volunteers, or student organization leaders.

Marian Sarah Parker Prize- Graduate

($1,000 stipend)

Presented to an outstanding female graduate student, consistent with legal parameters, who has demonstrated academic excellence, leadership qualities and outstanding contributions to the University and/or community.

Richard F. and Eleanor A. Towner Prize for Distinguished Academic Achievement 

($1,000 stipend)

Presented to the outstanding graduate student (Master’s or Ph.D. students) in each degree program. Criteria considered by the department awards committee include student’s active participation in research, leadership and academic performance (GPA).

Distinguished Leadership Award

Conferred upon undergraduate and graduate students of the College of Engineering who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and service to the College, University, and community. All submissions are considered.

Each of these prizes requires a self-nomination on the U-M Engineering Student Recognition website. Applications for winter 2023 awards will be accepted until Jan. 4, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EST. No late award nominations or supplemental materials can be accepted after this deadline.
