Description of Research: Meira’s research investigates the trend to design conversational agents that exhibit empathy with studies on design theory, designer practice, and user behavior with conversational interfaces. The objectives are to understand how social characteristics in conversational agents may affect their performance and to uncover theories and heuristics that inform their design. Meira also conducted behavioral studies on risk taking in group decision making in an engineering design context.
