Manufacturing is a bedrock of a strong economy, supporting a solid employment base in the manufacturing industry as well as in multiple related service industries. Now, more than ever, there is a critical need for leaders and engineers who are innovators in technology and have the broad knowledge and skills how to streamline manufacturing processes and make the managerial decisions.
Students in this program acquire the advanced engineering and management skills to become a dynamic leader in manufacturing. Students learn how to improve the quality and efficiency of manufacturing systems through advanced technologies and skills in their engineering discipline, acquiring breadth across disciplines, leading project teams, and understanding the complete product development and manufacturing process, including its management.

- Advanced Materials Design & Manufacturing (Nano/Digital/Additive)
- Safety, Health, & Ecology
The Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) in Manufacturing is a graduate professional degree that includes selecting from over 80 courses offered through various departments in the College of Engineering and the Stephen M. Ross School of Business (70% engineering and 30% business). It can be earned in one calendar year, including a four-month team project in industry. This program is available on campus and online. The program is for students who have already earned a B.S.E. degree in any field of engineering (e.g., aerospace, mechanical, electrical, civil, industrial, naval, chemical, materials science), and who have relevant industrial experience.
The Doctor of Engineering (D.Eng) degree program prepares students to be leaders in manufacturing with greater depth in their engineering disciplines with a manufacturing systems perspective. To graduate a student must complete an industrially relevant, engineering practice oriented dissertation that enhances their skills to carry out high quality applied engineering research and development.
Graduates work in a wide variety of fields such as Technology, Materials and Construction, Manufacturing, Government, Energy and Utilities, Electronics, Aerospace and Defense, and Mobility (Automotive and Transportation).
