Graduate Student Instructor Appointments
In general, students receiving a GSI appointment for a class within ISD will have taken the class and received an excellent grade. If a student’s undergraduate education was at an institution in which the language of instruction was not exclusively English, the student must pass an oral English examination administered by the Cambridge Michigan Language Assessments to be eligible for a GSI appointment. GSI appointments can be within ISD, or in another U of M department. Please note these appointments are very limited and generally students must have been on campus for 1-2 semesters before becoming eligible.
