About the Dual MEng/MBA Program

Whether its advances in Additive Manufacturing, smarter devices, datafication, Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT) or electric vehicles, technology today is accelerating at a rapid pace, enabling faster change and progress. To be successful these days, manufacturing engineers must be able to think faster and have a solid understanding of technology, business and management fundamentals, and tools.

In this dual-degree program, qualified students can pursue concurrent work in manufacturing engineering and business administration that leads to both a Master of Engineering in Manufacturing (MEM) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA).

U-M’s College of Engineering administers the MEM and the Stephen M. Ross School of Business administers the MBA. The program is managed so all requirements are satisfied simultaneously. This dual degree can be earned in two and one-half years by full-time students. It is offered part-time through the Ross School of Business Evening Program and not open to students who have already earned either the MEng in Manufacturing or an MBA. Students registered in their first year of either program may apply for the dual-degree option. No coursework completed prior to admission in either of the two halves of the dual-degree program may be counted toward the MBA.
