Student Organizations and Leadership

ISD Students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of organizations, some of which can be seen below.

The University of Michigan’s College of Engineering is also home to numerous other student organizations. Find out more about these opportunities on the Michigan Engineering Student Organizations and Leadership webpage.

Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC)

The Graduate Student Advisory Committee (GSAC) is made up of student members from each ISD graduate degree program to represent the student community. Visit the GSAC webpage for more information.

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is an international, non-profit educational service organization dedicated to supporting women in engineering careers or studies as well as encouraging young women to consider engineering as a career path. Since it was founded in 1950, SWE has given female engineers a platform and voice within the greater engineering industry and community.

The Society of Women Engineers at University of Michigan is one of the largest student organizations on campus. We have a leadership core of 50 student leaders, and over 300 general members. Our members are actively involved in our many technical, professional, social, and service events both on and off campus.

Visit the SWE website for more information.
